| Rebecca
at Daybreak is more of a transitional piece from the early portraits,
like Victoria's Secrets, to
the later ones like Gallery Exposure.
There's some spray paint here and there, and a little more light
and color; note the orange and yellow along the right edge, which
is something of an abstract sunrise-through-the-window effect. I
don't think this is a bad piece of art; just somewhat by-the-numbers.
I
based Rebecca on a young woman I knew once named Rebecca
Smith. When I met her, she was an aspiring musician with a tremendous
voice. There's a bit of story between us, but it isn't something
that I'm willing to talk about, and I doubt it would be all that
interesting, anyway. There's also another painting of mine called
Rebecca Smith, the
style entirely different.
I've
no idea what became of Rebecca Smith, besides releasing an CD and
forming another band a few years ago. She also had a website at
one point (rebeccasmith.com), but, frankly, I don't care. It's all
water under the bridge. She had a big influence on me then, but
every young man has a girl he could say that about.
So,
to Rebecca Smith, I would probably say: I love you for your inspiration,
and I hate you for your disappearance. |
