think I once read that a Russian television station had their female
anchors take their shirts off for ratings. Honest. I think this
is what they had in mind. Just goes to show you how real life can
often be more surreal than anything you can imagine.
If
I recall, this was the final portrait in the series. The whole thing
was completed over the course of a week; it was a hard week and
a fast week (stop snickering), but it was extremely satisfying and
a lot of fun. I can't say if I succeeded in what I was trying to
accomplish, because I was still learning as I was going along. I
was thinking of Warhols' Pop with a slightly abstract or surreal
vibe; something that was different and unique and maybe untested.
This
is the sort of thing that you try to do when you're in college and
finding your way around. You just try to mash all these different
influences and ideas together, and then toss it out and hope it
sparks discussions. |
