is the first piece in the Curious George series. I made these while
I was in New York during New Years' 2000, when the whole world was
supposed to come to an end or something. For this first drawing,
I wanted to take it easy and then make later drawings more abstract.
This series (and the later coloring books series) is similar to
Glen Ligon's work with children's coloring books. His work hangs
in the Walker Art Museum in Minneapolis.

fact: in the year 2000, there actually was a website called Iwetmypants.com
- can you believe that? They sold diapers. Those were the heady
days of the Internet, when everyone was getting shovels full of
money to sell every dumb idea over the Web. Why wasn't I getting
in on that? |
