| Woman
in Native Costume Revisited is originally taken, of course,
from the great artist, Paul Klee. This comes from a coloring book
containing works of 20th century masters, including Picasso and
Leger, who's Big Black Divers
was given a similar treatment by me.
These
were the most complicated pieces for me to draw. I wanted to add
a considerable amount of detail, and show off a great use of color
and shading. Note, for instance, that each polygon is given its
own pattern, and how they differ from the background. I didn't want
this to be a collection of simple scribbles. This has to demonstrate
a certain level of skill.
This
is probably my favorite piece in the whole series, alongside Divers
and Dreaming of Honeypots in Dinkytown.
That includes the two dozen or so other crayon drawings that haven't
been added to the website yet. And Klee is one of the true greats. |
