Dreams
of Honeypots in Dinkytown is much more ambitious than the usual
Coloring Book sketch. Each piece was becoming more complicated,
more layered, and more detailed than the one before. By the time
I created this, I was pushing the medium to its limits.
You
may be surprised to discover how difficult it is to create this
with crayons; there's only so many layers of color you can add before
everything becomes messy. Crayons weren't really designed with this
purpose in mind. Fortunately, I'm happy with the results, which
took many hours to complete.
The
style is more cubist, and I think there's a slight cubist influence
in other drawings from this series. The fact that there aren't more
drawings like this is probably just a tribute to my own procrastination.
In any event, enjoy this piece. |
