| Alright,
before the lawyers start knocking down my door, let me say that
this painting is nothing more than a shameless Jackson Pollack ripoff.
This was made after a dozen or two acrylics, and my ideas were running
thin. I decided to really make something Pollack-esque, but sticking
to the three or four paints that I've relied upon for the others.
I used a poster board instead of a canvas; I've fooled around with
poster board a bit, and it worked best with these acrylics. Maybe
I should carry this with me when I go to anti-war demonstrations.
The
title is taken from a Sesame Street Muppet skit from the 1970s.
It featured an artist who was showing off his work. The painting
with one splotch was named "number 1," the painting with
two splotches was named "number 2," and so on. When the
artist gets to the fifth painting, his patron assumes that it is
called "number 5." "No, that is insane!" the
artist bellows, treating it like an accusation. "Well, then,
what do you call it?" he was asked.
"I
call it...Chicken Soup." |
