| Typically,
when one creates an abstract painting, it is paired with an equally
abstract name; numbers and "untitleds" tend to be the
rule of the day. But why follow those tired, old cliches? I think
it's a pretty good idea to name an abstract work after someone in
the real world, so I wind up with artwork like Laetitia
Casta, Rebecca Smith,
and this one. Maybe the next thing to do is slap a serial number
on a portrait. "Mona Lisa X." You have to admit, it does
have a nice ring. Power to the people, sister.
This
painting is a great mix of acrylic paints on thick paper. Since
I was putting watercolors on canvas, why not put acrylics on paper?
There was a conscious effort to break the picture into quarters,
to maintain variety; it was also very important to capture that
liquidity, that flowing sense of motion, the Watercanvas
paintings provide. I must say it worked very well. My only hang-up
is that acrylic paints are an awful mess, especially the way I paint.
That's one of the reasons I switched to watercolors.
And
Brooke Burke? Be honest now; who among you isn't a fan? I've always
admired her work, her determination, and her drive to succeed. The
woman is also a hot foxy babe.
Hey,
don't tell me she's married. I'll have none of your dad-gum "reality."
One of you might send her a copy of this page, and maybe she'll
find out about this site, and get in contact with me...hey, a guy
can dream, can't he?
Just
enjoy the stupid painting, okay? |
