Nanji
Desu Ka? is Japanese for "what time is it?" It's
usually among the first phrases taught to you when you begin studying
the language. They don't teach you anything about telling time,
so actually asking for the time is pretty much worthless until you
are further along.
Painting
number four switches from hot to cold, with a look that's closer
to watercolors that the others. This is something that I was working
for, and you can notice the heavy, bold strokes of black that outline
the petals. It's all so very organic and abstract and tripped-out
at the same time.
You
may be fooled into thinking that all I did was swap the colors again
and again, but it's actually more involved and intricate than that.
There's a lot of experimentation, a lot of give-and-take, which
is similar to watercolors again, and especially photography. Making
it all look easy is just part of the trick. |
